Chamonix France

My latest adventure is off and running. I left Phoenix 4 days ago, took a redeye to London and continued to Geneva, Switzerland where I spent Thursday night. Friday morning I got a ride to Chamonix, France. I have had a great day and a half in Chamonix and tomorrow I start walking toward Zermatt Switzerland on the Walkers Haute Route. I plan to take 11 days to walk the 128 miles. This will be a fairly typical alpine trek. I will spend 5 of the next 10 nights in a mountain hut and the other 5 nights in a small hotel in a Swiss village. I paid a tour company to make the arrangements. I am travelling solo, but like my typical answer on the Appalachian Trail or a winter Camino, “I am by myself, but never alone”. This route is fairly popular, so I should meet many like minded walkers along the way. Click below to read and see what I have been up to.

  1. This will be an epic adventure for you! Sounds like you are off to a smooth start. The scenery is spectacular and I love that some scenes are summery and green while others are wintery and snowy. Hey, is french fry pizza a common thing there? Thanks for writing and I hope you have a great time!

  2. Beautiful mountains! I am envious of the location and travel, but not the upcoming vertical hiking!

Buen Camino (Good walk) in German… guter weg? or guter spaziergang? (good walk or good stroll!)

      1. Hi Gary!

I’ll try again. I’m psyched to see another part of the world with you! At first I wasn’t quite sure if Elizabeth was off on an adventure by herself but quickly knew it was you! Have a great time and I love your blogs! I love scenery, people (whether they are on the journey or whether you meet the natives along the way) and the different kinds of food you eat!

        Love,

        Cindy
