I am loving the hills and woods of Galicia. Only 3 more walking days to Santiago and then ….. who knows for a few days. Click the link below to see pictures from the past two days.

I am so confused about mileage. Will Elizabeth walk 500 miles before meeting Cooper and his wife? Also, how many miles total are you walking, Gary. I’m trying to picture the path you are taking and what path Cooper and his wife, are taking with you two?
Also, anyone who walks the journey you are on is called a pilgrim, as are you? I am just in awe (and a happy awe) that so many people from different countries and beliefs can sit down and peacefully have a meal together. Our country’s leaders need to do the same.
I am happy you found NZ to walk with. Great companionship.

Elizabeth’s reply:
Understandable, that you are confused! Cooper and Chelsea are doing their own thing right now in Europe. Some hiking but mostly being tourists. Gary, right now, is finishing the Portuguese Coastal route (walking roughly 170 mi. from Porto, Portugal (north western Portugal, walking north to Santiago, Spain). The kids are touring Germany and Switzerland (just the 2 of them) right now and then on May 30th C & C will fly from Geneva, Switzerland to Madrid, Spain. Gary will fly to Madrid, from Santiago, Spain on May 29th. I will leave PHX on May 29th and meet them all at the Madrid airport on May 30th. All 4 of us, together, will then begin the 500 mile “Camino Frances”, walking from St. Jean Pied de Port, France (south western France, in the Pyrenees Mountains) walking across northern Spain (south of the bay of Biscay) to Santiago, Spain (NW Spain). We plan to continue to Fisterra, Spain, on Cape Finnesterre (a north western Spanish peninsula). You can see these towns by Googling Camino Frances route. Hope that helped!!

Thank you, Elizabeth. That clears things up. I thought you were doing 500 miles before you meet up with them. I can understand that you and Gary have 7+ weeks to do this but how do Cooper and Chelsea have so much free time! Amazing amount of time away from the US. So happy you can all do it together, though!
