We Visited 27 Different States

We slept in hotels and family member’s homes over 38 Days straight and drove over 8,400 miles.

Rangeley has visited 45 different states at 15 months of age. He’s missing Florida, Delaware and Rhode Island in the lower 48. Gary has visited all 50, Elizabeth is just missing Alaska.

We now have found a geocache in every state but Alaska.

We have visited 51 of the 63 National Parks. We’re missing the 8 in Alaska, Glacier in Montana, Voyageurs in Minnesota, Isle Royale in Michigan and the Grand Canyon. Gary has been to the Canyon 20+ times and Elizabeth probably 5+ visits but we don’t have our official passport stamped and a commemorative pin for our map yet. We had visited 9 national parks before we picked up Rangeley. Good thing, because they were the Hawaiian National Parks, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa and a couple more last year that he would not have been able to get to anyway! But 42 national parks visited for a 15-month-old dog is not bad!

We have visited almost every state in this amazing country since September 2020 with Rangeley. We met, almost exclusively, positive, hopeful, hardworking people. Many Americans are traveling to view the mountains, plains, oceans, deserts and forests that belong to us all, thanks to the visionary preservationists who came before us. We drove through large cities and stopped in hundreds of small towns. We have met beef, wheat and soybean farmers whose products make it to our very own tables. We have met lobster and fishermen, hunters and vegans. People with loads of money and those families who sleep in their cars and picnic along streams just to experience what the parks have to offer each and every citizen.

This last adventure was mostly about spending time, in person, with those we love. We met with our elders, great nieces, siblings and friends. We ate outside almost every night during those 38 days, mostly due to Rangeley, but appreciating the fresh air!
