What a fun journey this was. Quite different from the busy spring/summer walks we have done previously. Thank you for following along and I appreciate the comments. I did a short YouTube video. The link is at the bottom of the post.
Santiago and Fisterra
I made it to Santiago yesterday and had a great evening with China, Italy and Korea. A wonderful finish to the trip. Today I took the bus to Fisterra. Tomorrow back to Santiago, then Thursday a train to Madrid and Friday fly home.
O Pedrouzo
I have only 12 miles remaining to get to the Cathedral in Santiago. This trip has gone very fast, I can’t believe it is almost over. I have physically felt great. My feet have been zero issue. I did get one small blister, but it did not affect my walking. It looks like tomorrow is the best weather forecast so far – sunny and mid 50s. Hopefully I will see a few familiar faces in Santiago. My two Korean woman friends went through O Pedrouzo today. I saw them at lunch. They will arrive in the morning. They are also planning to take the bus to Fisterra.
Palas de Rei
Today was a beautiful day to walk – sunny the entire walk. As I am posting this at almost 6pm, the clouds have moved back in. No rain is in the forecast for tomorrow. Thanks for following along.
Sarria
I have reached Sarria, the most popular starting spot for the Camino Frances. The crazy weather of the past 5 days should be behind me. Warmer, dryer air is forecast for the next several days. Plus I am done the mountains. I am currently at 1,500 feet and don’t go over 2,300 feet the rest of the way.
O Cebreiro
It is winter here. The power kept going on and off during the night. I am posting this in my morning and have decided to move on today. The weather the next two days is forecast to be bed. May as well as go down and have rain instead on snow. Plus there are more services.
Astorga to Ponferrada
The time is really flying by. Amazing I have walked for 23 days and covered 350 miles already. In 9 days I should arrive in Santiago. Thanks for following along.
Leon to Astorga
No rain today, which was nice. It was warm in the morning when the sun was out. It felt cooler in the afternoon when the clouds returned. Kind of an uneventful 2 days, but all good.
Bercianos to Leon
I have reached Leon, so the Meseta is now behind me. The rolling hills have started. The real hills start in 2 days. I will probably stay in Leon again tomorrow night and take a bus forward and walk back. It is fun being around activity in the cities. Keep the questions coming. I am running out of things to talk about.
Carrion to Bercianos
Good news/bad news – It is supposed to warm up, but it is also supposed to rain for the next several days. Oh well, I did decide to walk in January. I am not complaining. The weather has been totally fine in my book. It really doesn’t matter while I am walking and I am inside every night. Thanks for following along.
