In 2012 I did two 200+ mile sections of the AT, Northern Virginia and Norwich, VT to Rangeley, ME. I loved the trail community so in 2014 I set off and completed a thru hike of 2,185 miles from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine.
In 2018 I set out to do a second thru hike but ended up getting off the trail after 1,000 miles to go for a bike ride down the Pacific Coast.
2014
In 2014 I started hiking north from Springer Mountain on April 13th. Four months and 2,185 miles later I was standing on top of Mount Katahdin in Maine on August 16th. This was a truly amazing experience that set up our pursuing future adventures.

2018
In 2018 I set off from Springer Mountain walking north with our son Cooper. He had a month, so after 500 miles he headed home to Phoenix and I continued north, getting off trail at the midpoint, Pine Grove Furnace State Park in Pennsylvania. In 2020 I plan to return to Pine Grove and walk north to Katahdin. You can read our daily journal by clicking on the picture to the right.
